MADISON CO., TN – Two people died, and almost 30 others were hurt in a crash involving a Greyhound bus on Memorial Day in Madison County
Police and medics were called to the area of US-70 and TN-223 on Monday night after reports of a major two-vehicle collision. This is west of Jackson and approximately 85 miles northeast of Memphis.
Authorities haven’t commented on the cause of the accident or the manner of the crash impact. They say that collision involved a pickup truck and a Greyhound bus carrying approximately 39 people.
The pickup truck caught fire after the two vehicles collided.
Two people succumbed to their injuries at the scene, and at least 29 people were hospitalized with injuries of unknown severity.
Multiple neighbors and bystanders attempted to help with rescue efforts.
