Narrative

NASHVILLE, TN – A collision involving an 18-wheeler and an gas-powered minibike claimed the life of a 10-year-old boy over the Fourth of July weekend in Nashville.

The accident occurred shortly before 8:30 p.m. in the area of 500 Main Street, which is south of Douglass Park and northwest of East Park.

Police say that a child riding a minibike failed to yield right of way and crashed into a tanker truck after exiting a parking lot on Main Street. The boy was then run over by the semi’s rear tires.

Authorities declared the operator of the minibike deceased at the scene, identifying him as Dsiyahn Whitmore of Buena Vista Pike.

The truck driver did not sustain injuries in the accident.

A full investigation is underway.
